    Practice and Understanding. The two key things needed to improve your art. I've said it in my other journals, but this concept is becoming more and more clear now. The more I understand and practice, the further I feel like I'm improving in my art. Currently I am reading Loomis's book on Figure Drawing. I've read some of it before, but with keeping those two concepts above in mind, I see this book in a whole new light. Loomis himself also explains how important examining and understanding the world around yourself is so important. Even if the world around you is what you would consider dull.    I'm starting to remember that harsh feeling of practicing really hard but not seeing a lot of improvement. But then I remember this feeling is a lie. In reality I am just facing more problems that I need yet to solve. So I'm just going to keep this though out of my mind and keep drawing. A good metaphor of this would be when I was learning how to do an ollie on a skateboard. It was soooo hard, skateboarding was hard. I would go outside and do ~200 ollies a day, trying to perfect it. For the first week it didn't seem like I was getting any better. My brother always said "Hey your starting to get it!". But for some reason I wasn't convinced,

   I'm currently taking a break from today's drawing session. I have class soon so I will have to pick up my last hour sometime today, preferably before it gets too late. I cannot draw late at night. I just get so tired and become too discouraged to draw if I am not into something serious. I really need to figure out a way fix this, as this would open up a lot of time to draw.    Anyway the 4 hours a day thing is going pretty well. I don't think about it too much. The key is to just keep drawing and coming up with ideas. If you can't think of anything you want to draw then draw still life or from a reference. It doesn't really matter what y
